When Kamen Rider Become More and More Like Super Sentai!

Written by Eddy Woo on 5:56 AM

People always say, Kamen Rider isn't Super Sentai, period. Is it? I personally don't think so because one thing for sure, after watching kamen rider for so long, starting from Kamen Rider 555 to current Kamen Rider KIVA, they getting more and more "colorful", if you watch Kamen Rider Kabuto, they basically got all the five color available and more(Kabuto - Red, Gattack - Blue, Zabee - Yellow, Kick Hopper - Green...)

Well, you may say I might got the color part correct but at least, there's no giant robot. Guess what, Kamen Rider may not got giant robot but they got several giant trains that can gattai into and now on KIVA, we got CastleDran that got some gattai of it's own.

Let me explain what is now happening in the world of Kamen Rider:

  1. Marketing - Create more toys for kids and that means more sales and of course, more revenue for the company.
  2. No one like a lone ranger - The good, old days of a lone cyborg fighting against an evil organization is over.
  3. More storylines - How much storylines can you think of when you got one main characters.
Below is a clip from Kamen Rider KIVA 8 and one thing - Good Job:

Chou DaiBouken Appear!

Written by Eddy Woo on 6:09 AM

Chou DaiBouken appear for the first time in the show, after it been seriously beaten by both Gaja and Ryuuwon earlier on episode 10, of course, today we got Chou DaiBouken to even the odds at the end of the day.

There isn't really much for me to say on this episode, except see you on the next episode.

A funny scene from episode 11:

Not another Clone versus The Original Storyline!

Written by Eddy Woo on 5:43 AM

I guess you more or less know what happen on episode 8, it's like I say on the title; it's a case of The Original (BoukenBlue) vs Clone and the clone happen to be a precious. This what happen at the end, while the boukengers is thinking who is the real BoukenBlue (both real and fake Souta had henshin in to BoukenBlue), our BoukenBlack got a bright idea of his own by chosing to shoot at Natsuki (BoukenYellow) instead, he even pretend to bluff us audience by claiming Natsuki is fake.

Of course, as predicted the real BoukenBlue jump forward to save Natsuki and solve the problem of guessing who the real deal. Sometime, I really wonder what would happen if the clone copy BoukenBlue abit too good, maybe that mean we get to see part II of this episode. Or why the Boukenger never learn from Saiyuki Reload (they got a clone fight in one of the episode too), they just say: "Okay, whoever win the fight is real".

A scene from episode 8:

GoGo Sentai Boukenger - BoukenRed Finally Loosen Up

Written by Eddy Woo on 9:08 PM

Finally, Satoru Akashi/BoukenRed has finally loosen up and make himself look silly for a change, starting on episode 6. Well, it's about time he do that even though he may be "The fiery adventurer" in the show, doesn't mean he got to be so serious, after all, this over serious role normally belong to "DekaBlue" from Tokusou Sentai DekaRanger or "MagiYellow/MagiGreen" from Mahou Sentai MagiRanger.

By the way, all my previous clips upload on YouTube has been removed, I'm so disappointed with YouTube over their actions.

Here's a clip from episode 6:

DAIBOUKEN SHOVEL Look Like Bakyceloknuckles From Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger

Written by Eddy Woo on 7:57 PM

I'm just finish watching episode 5 of GoGo Sentai Boukenger as usual, the first 5 episodes would be dedicated to all of the Boukengers: Black, Yellow, Blue, Red and now Pink so the next few episodes would be on the "Negative Syndicate" before they get a new member to their team and get "version up" as their enemies get even stronger.

Today, DAIBOUKEN SHOVEL make it's first appearance, instantly it remind me of Bakyceloknuckles From Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger; the boxing bakuryuuso I'm not too suprise, if Daibouken keep on detach and attach new gear to it in future fights.

Here's the scene of GoGo Gattai for this episode:

Oh My! Our BoukenBlack need to see a dentist!

Written by Eddy Woo on 5:48 AM

With Mahou Sentai Magiranger behind me, I really got high expectation on this new show: GoGo Sentai Boukenger. Well as usual in my view that is, the show would be slow moving at first but once it reach episode 10, you simply get addicted to it. (like me)

I'm not going into any further into this show since it's only episode 1 and it's won't be fair to make any judgement now. Anyway, if you never notice it, our good ole BoukenBlack really need to visit dentist, for a show that got all the young pretty girls and handsome guys fighting villains weeks after weeks; it's really hard to accept that one of their main characters actually got such a flaw.

It's such a waste but who know maybe because of this, we can get to see more actions, instead of talking. And not to forget, our BoukenRed is so much more serious compare to his earlier role as Daikokucho Mitsuomi in Hanazakari no Kimitachi e.

Here's a scene from GoGo Sentai Boukenger with BoukenBlack in it:

Sayonara, Magiranger! I going to miss you

Written by Eddy Woo on 8:00 PM

Finally, today is ending of Mahou Sentai Magiranger, in fact, I treat myself to a two hours special - ep 48 and Final Stage. I really can't stand cliffhanger. Anyway, finish these last two episodes together that mean I can start moving on GoGo Sentai Boukenger on Monday. Cool!

As usual, I almost want to cry when I watch the last episode of Super Sentai, I always feel this way when I watch Abaranger, Dekaranger and now Magiranger (strangely, I don't get to experience the same thing when I watch Kamen Rider, although their ending is pretty touching to me too?)

Maybe, it's due to the fact that as a Kamen Rider, especially the main character; you always get to fight alone even you got fellow riders as allies, like a lone wolf so no matter, how many friends or allies, you got to fight alone, not mention, cry alone. (I guess this is the sad fate of Kamen Rider) For Super Sentai, it's totally different since they always fight in group, a common enemy and common problem.

Anyway, below are some of my favourite scenes from Magiranger:
Totally a climax:

Is That The Best Henshin Moves Kamen Rider Goah Got?

Written by Eddy Woo on 9:21 PM

In case, you didn't realized it, our good old TV-Nihon had finally release Kamen Rider Den-O: Ore, Tanjo. For a moment, I actually gives up on the idea that they even bother to sub it in the first place.

Anyway, I watch this movie last night, well, it's pretty good, unlike previous Kamen Rider's movies; this event didn't happen in another "alternate" timeline, like Kamen Rider 555, Kamen Rider BLADE or Kamen Rider KABUTO.

But there is one thing that disappoint me that is, don't they got a better henshin moves for Goah? I been watching all these Kamen Rider's movies for some time, they always got one thing in common and that is bad Kamen Riders seem to got poor henshin moves; Goah is one of them so are the three new riders from Kabuto movie: God Speed Love and finally, Kamen Rider Psyga from Kamen Rider 555.

Watch how Goah henshin:

I don't know about you but to me, if the production group can't think of a good henshin moves, just simply ask the characters henshin instantly as he/she rush to engage in a fight with the good guys.

I know they can do better if the production group chose to do so.

Denliner Is Base On Mahou Tokkyuu, Travelion Express

Written by Eddy Woo on 4:45 AM

Ok, I admit I prefer Kamen Rider over Super Sentai and basically, I start watching Super Sentai only pretty recently. Now, I'm watching Mahou Sentai Magiranger's episode 21 and guess what I saw in this episode: Travelion Express.

If you had watch Kamen Rider Den-O, you would instantly realized how similar they are, on the train part, of course. Don't believe me, just watch the video below.

Would The Next Kamen Rider After KIVA Also From D-Boys

Written by Eddy Woo on 1:20 AM

Based on Wikipedia, Koji Seto is a Japanese male actor and is happen to be one of the member of D-Boys. In case, you didn't realised it, Yuichi Nakamura (中村 優一) who play the role of Yuuto Sakurai/Kamen Rider Zeronos in Kamen Rider Den-O or Kyosuke Kiriya in Kamen Rider HIBIKI, also a member of D-Boys.

What I really want to say is; is it possible for the next generation of Kamen Rider (after KIVA) also from D-Boys, now if you got a choice, who would you chose from D-Boys to be the next generation of Kamen Rider.

To me, I'm actually more opening to the idea of having Rakuto Tochihara (栩原 楽人) , the unfortunate Asumu Adachi from Kamen Rider HIBIKI to be the next Kamen Rider after KIVA; of course, I don't believe he would be a main character of the show, rather he would be more like Yuuto, which would be more of a supporting character.

So what do you think about it?

Kamen Rider KIVA Is Going To Be Harcore

Written by Eddy Woo on 5:58 AM

If you had watch Kamen Rider KIVA whether if it raw or subbed by TVnihon, you would realised it's theme going to be something similar to Kamen Rider KABUTO; instead of Den-O.

When I say that, it mean there going to be alot of fast actions which is pretty rare in Den-O; although I got to see that alot in Kamen Rider KABUTO. So if you happen to be a fan of Kamen Rider and love the idea of every episode should end with a "Rider Kick"; well, you in luck. :)

Well, sometime I really wonder if there some kind of rules at that create Kamen Rider series; although there a lot of actions like fights or kick in Kamen Rider but even so, on each series, their action level tend to go & down.

Example:
Kamen Rider 555 (hardcore) -> Kamen Rider BLADE (mixture of softcore and hardcore) - >Kamen Rider HIBIKI (softcore) -> Kamen Rider KABUTO (hardcore) -> Kamen Rider Den-O (softcore) -> Kamen Rider KIVA (hardcore)

I use hardcore for more actions while softcore for lesser actions which appear in each series. In fact, it doesn't really surprise me at all when I notice all those action appearing in the KIVA.
